• November Covid-19 Update

Due to the continuing severity of the Covid-19 pandemic, the committee have taken the decision to hold off on returning to rehearsals for the rest of the year. We will reassess the situation in early 2021.

  • COVID-19 Update

Unfortunately due to the current COVID-19 outbreak and in line with government advice we of course won’t be going ahead with our summer concerts this year which were to be performed on the 26th and 27th of June. We will be monitoring the situation closely and will provide further updates later in the year.

  • Spring Concert Cancelled

In accordance with UK Government guidance, we regret to announce that we have now cancelled our upcoming concert on the 3rd of April 2020 at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Stoke Bishop.

Many thanks to all those who have purchased tickets, please contact the member of the orchestra you purchased the tickets from for a full refund.

All upcoming rehearsals for the orchestra are also cancelled and at this stage we are unsure when they will resume.

  • Spring Concert tickets now available

Come along to Bristol Chamber Orchestra’s Spring Concert in the beautiful setting and acoustic of the church of St Mary Magdalene, Stoke Bishop. We begin with Bartók’s selection of Eastern European folk melodies, then a depiction of the English countryside by Vaughan Williams in his jaunty oboe concerto. It will be an honour to welcome rising star oboist Alice Rivers, a native of Stoke Bishop, who is fully involved in the local music scene and will shortly be taking up a place to read music at Cambridge University.

Our second half features Tchaikovsky’s jubilant Serenade for Strings, which has a full emotional range from fragility and despair to playful and triumphant. Tchaikovsky tests all the performers with dramatic contrasts, stunning melodies and constant rhythmic drive. This much-loved serenade, which is among the finest in the repertoire, will leave you with a smile on your face. We hope you can join us.

Advance tickets available from orchestra members or by calling 0117 9688549
£12.00 on the door, £10.00 in advance, £5.00 for students, free for children
