About Us

About the Orchestra

Founded by a passionate group of amateur musicians, the Bristol Chamber Orchestra has grown from an intimate ensemble of friends to a thriving community of 30 musicians, including several professionally qualified members. With over six decades of dedication to sharing beautiful music, we perform four concerts annually, occasionally joining forces with additional instrumentalists or soloists for symphonies and concertos.

Our Music and Performances

Our repertoire focuses on orchestral string music, with past performances showcasing a rich variety of classical pieces. Each concert is an opportunity for our members and audiences alike to experience the magic of live, collaborative music-making.

Join Us!

Are you a string player interested in being part of a dedicated, friendly orchestra? We’re always eager to welcome violinists and viola players of a good standard, and we’d love to meet you at one of our rehearsals. We rehearse every Wednesday during term time at 7.30pm at Bristol Grammar School, offering a supportive space for musicians to refine their skills and make lasting friendships. Membership is £40 per term, with a discounted rate for students.

If you’d like to be part of our musical journey, feel free to reach out to our Secretary at secretary@bristolchamberorchestra.org.uk for more details about joining us.
